2025 Year-End Update from Rainforest Protectors Trust

In 2025, Rainforest Protectors Trust reached a historic milestone with the purchase of a dedicated property for its first Rainforest Conservation & Education Center, strategically located along the route to the main entrance of the Sinharaja World Heritage Rainforest in Sri Lanka.

This landmark acquisition expands our capacity and opens new pathways for impact. The Center will serve as a hub for:

  • Volunteer engagement and field programs
  • Environmental education for students, communities, and visitors
  • Reforestation and habitat restoration initiatives
  • Conservation of critically endangered endemic flora
  • Scientific research and biodiversity monitoring
  • Strengthened enforcement through collaboration with forest and wildlife rangers

This new home marks the beginning of a transformative chapter—one that deepens our commitment to protecting Sri Lanka’s last remaining primary rainforests while empowering the next generation of conservation leaders.

Since 2018, Rainforest Protectors Trust has purchased more than 30 acres of privately held forest lands adjoining the Sinharaja World Heritage Rainforest, securing them for permanent conservation and strengthening the creation of a protected buffer zone. These forests are now actively monitored and safeguarded by our Rainforest Guardians.

As we enter 2026, our goal is to strategically expand this protected buffer zone by acquiring additional ecologically critical lands. Together, these protected forests not only prevent encroachment but also safeguard habitat for some of Sri Lanka’s most irreplaceable biodiversity.

Your involvement is what keeps this work alive. Whether you choose to donate, volunteer, or stand with us as a supporter, you become part of a growing movement to protect Sri Lanka’s last remaining primary rainforests. Every action—big or small—helps expand the buffer zone, strengthen our guardianship efforts, and secure a safer future for endangered species. Join us, support us, or give if you can. Together, we can protect what cannot be replaced.
